Wild Silver Oak

 This cache was placed in honour of white night.

For your involvement in the PE caching community over the past year. During this time you have found close to 450 caches and placed 22 which are being enjoyed by all. Your Zombie Apocalypse series is keeping the Baviaanskloof alive. Well done, keep it up!

This cache is a regular container hidden along the trail in the reserve. Many thanks to the NMMU for allowing us to use the NMMU Private Nature Reserve for geocaching. Please abide by their rules.

 
The following strict rules apply:

      1.     Entry to the reserve is free but everyone must sign the visitors book found at the entrance to the reserve.
2.    
No vehicles are allowed in the reserve.
3.    
No fires are allowed in the reserve.
4.    
The reserve may only be used during daylight hours.
5.

About the Wild Silver Oak:

This is another bushy tree reaching about 4 to 5 m in height. The leaves are dark green above and whitish with dense hairs below. Creamy white flowers appear in late winter and look like miniature Scottish thistles. Male and female flowers are borne on separate trees. The fruit is a nutlet with a brownish covering of hairs. This tree is well adapted to living in dunes because the branches can set down roots as they are covered with sand from moving dunes. In this way the tree can keep pace with sand inundation..
