I visited with a friend and old colleague over the holidays. We decided to take a walk to try to burn off some of the holiday libations that we had excessively partook in.
As we walked down NE Scruggs road, we approached a bridge. I said "there's a geocache down there"(GC3MEQJ). I was expecting the usual 'what are you talking about response'? But instead he replied 'oh, my sons and I have done a few of those but not too many'. As the walk continued, the wind was still blustery cold and the snow started to come down. The conversation however turned to geocaching. As it usually does with me. Its a sickness. I'm pretty sure it's in the DSM somewhere.
As we walked we traded stories about our placements and our memorable finds. Then he asked me if I have ever placed a magnetic type cache on a street sign, light pole, or traffic signal pole? I replied no. He replied I should consider it. We continued to walk silently down the sidewalk.
The snow was falling hard and we were losing our line of sight, however, in the distance we thought we saw the perfect place for a cache. We excitedly ran towards the area. When nearing ground zero, the blustery wind and snow stopped and gave us a chance to warm up. We took coordinates, went out got the appropriate cache container and then came back and made the placement. Enjoy and please no spoilers.
