SOS #14 - Calendar Days Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

sharant: Having this in my own town and on a night when our youngest had a sleepover was such a good idea!

I enjoyed the company, the drink, the conversation, and the souvenir!

WELL DONE on raising money for Wales - more money for the biggest 'party' in the GB Geocaching calendar!

C U all soon!

Geocache Description:

February 29th, from 7pm, upstairs at the Royal Oak in Eccleshall.

This month we're discussing Calendar Days - do you have what it takes to do a cache on every day of the year...? Come to Eccleshall on Feb 29th and fill in a rare day on the calendar!

AND... we'll have a raffle in aid of teh North Wales Mega and Maze!

Stoke or Stafford – SOS

A monthly series of events, each with a theme and designed to allow cachers to help each other. The events will be somewhere not too far from either Stoke or Stafford, or in between.

Win! Win! Win!

Find out about the GPS Adventure Maze and the North Wales Mega - and buy a raffle ticket to win stuff too. All profit goes to the Mega/Maze team. Any contributions you bring for the raffle also much appreciated!

For February we are in Eccleshall, and hosted by Sharant (Sharon & Ant).

On Leap Day let's discuss calendar days - the two different ways of filling up the 366 days of your geocaching calendar! One way is to simply cache on every day of the year, across many years - we have done this, and Geocaching.com will track this for you online - follow that link to see our own calendar on our statistics page, under the heading "Finds for each day of the year". Also, there are some challenge caches that allow you to claim a find if you have completed your calendar - have you done one of these, or do you have this as a target?

Caches in the area:

Come for the day if you like!

  • There’s one large series: Ticklebrick’s “Eee By Eck” a 'premium' series has 25+ caches over 6 miles West of town, with an optional shortcut between ‘New Style’ and ‘Bridge over troubled waters’ via our own multi ‘the Beast of Pershall’
  • Our own Eccleshall Ring is only 90 mins or so and is South of town, with some optional drive-by add-ons once you are finished.
  • There’s two multi-caches: Multi Media takes you out East, and the Eccleshall Tour takes you round in a loop around town, never far from one of the many pubs or cafés!
  • There is a wherigo at the same coordinates as this event, too. Download it to your compatible device ahead of time.

If you plan to come earlier in the day for some caching, perhaps log your intention on our Staffordshire Geocachers' Facebook Page? Maybe others would like to join you?

Our Venue:

The pub has a full menu and eating will be downstairs, so perhaps come earlier (6pm?) and/or book a table

The Royal Oak is an old coaching Inn – one of many in Eccleshall dating from the time of the turnpike roads between Chester and London, Shrewsbury & York. The landlord has set aside the large upstairs room for us from 7pm - if you aim to eat in the Oak, call them and book a table. There's plenty of other places to eat in town too, so if you go elsewhere come find us after 7pm. The Royal Oak is a Joules pub and has three ales on cask and the usual spread of other drinks available.

The Royal Oak
