Geocache Description:

You are looking for a simple micro on the edge of Boney's Island on Beccles Common.


The wooded area on the Common behind the golf clubhouse is the highest point on the Common. The area is known as Boney's Island because a large bonfire was built there in 1814 to celebrate peace after the Napoleonic Wars. It is suggested that the island, formerly called Bonaparte's Island, was a prisoner of war camp during the Napoleonic Wars however there is no documentary evedence to support this
