"It was not just because of its size that that the elephant intrigued me so much. Its strength and dignity, its silent movement and sudden trumpeting fury ... its sociable life of the herd, the humour of the young, the threatening beauty of its tusks, the delicate twist and touch of its trunk and the intelligent look in its wise old eyes if I managed to get close to it , all these enthralled me. --- George Adamson, My Pride and Joy, 1986"
