De Blokhuispoort (Fries: Blokhûspoarte)
De Blokhuispoort is een voormalige Strafgevangenis en Huis van Bewaring van Leeuwarden en is nu een cultureel bedrijvencentrum. Het ontstaan van dit gebouwencomplex dateert uit 1499. Er werd een Blokhuis gebouwd in opdracht van Willebrord van Schaumburg, Stadhouder des Hertogen van Saksen.
In de loop der jaren heeft de Blokhuispoort verschillende functies gehad;
- Bouw van het Blokhuis Leeuwarden (1498-1661)
- Huis van Opsluiting en Tuchtiging (1661-1874)
- Bijzondere Strafgevangenis en Huis van Bewaring (1874-1969)
- Huis van Bewaring (1970-2008)
- Cultureel Bedrijven Centrum (2008 - heden)
Er werkten in het Huis van Bewaring 130 medewerkers, de gedetineerdencapaciteit is 163 personen. Op 17 juni 2007 verliet de laatste gevangene de Blokhuispoort. De Blokhuispoort is overgedragen naar de gemeente en deze heeft de Blokhuispoort direct doorverkocht aan BOEi voor het symbolische bedrag van één Euro. Het voormalige huis van bewaring De Blokhuispoort herbergt nu tijdelijk 120 creatieve bedrijven.
Over de cache
- Let op: De cache is te loggen wanneer de hoofd poort open is, dit is over het algemeen op maandag t/m zondag van 08:00 tot 22:00 uur.
- De GPS ontvangst kan wel eens lastig zijn tussen de muren en bij de cache.
- Er is ruimte voor (de iets grotere) Trackables en Coins. En kom later gerust nog eens langs om TB's te droppen.
- Houd de nieuwsbrief in de gaten voor actuele updates (zie laatste 'write note' van CO)
- Voor de liefhebber van souvenirs, is er voor €1,05 een zelf gedrukte munt te verkrijgen op loopafstand, N53° 12.085 E005° 47.800.
- Neem gerust een kijkje in de ruimtes (achter deuren) van de Blokhuispoort en het Alibi Hostel. Houd daarmee wel rekening met de mensen die daar aan het werk zijn.
- Het kan druk zijn met mensen (muggles), die wel eens vragen kunnen hebben bij de zoekactiviteiten. Zoals werkende mensen, rondleidingen of een (betaald) evenement. Probeer zo onopvallend te zoeken en te loggen, kom later terug, of leg evt uit dat je aan een spel meedoet. Succes!

This short multi will take you on a little tour of culture and history in the old prison of Leeuwarden, 'The Blokhuispoort'.
The Blokhuispoort can be visited mostly for free. With this cache, I wanted you to see and visit this special place.
All answers can be found in- and aroud the Blokhuispoort. Pay attention to the limited time to log!
The Blokhuispoort (Frisian: Blokhûspoarte)
The Blokhuispoort is a former prison and now it is a cultural business centre. This building was constructed around 1499. The first complex was built at request of Willebrord van Schaumburg, Stadhouder des Hertogen van Saksen.
Over the years, the Blokhuispoort has had several functions. There were around 130 people who worked at this prison. The capicity was 163 prisoners. The last prisoner left on June 17th 2007. The Blokhuispoort was taken over by the town of Leeuwarden, and sold to 'stichting BOEi' for one Euro. The Blokhuispoort now houses 120 creative companies.
About this cache
- Pay attention: This cache can be logged when the front portal is open. This is (in general) on Monday until Sunday from 08:00 - 22:00 hour.
- The GPS signal could be deviate between the walls and near the cache.
- There is room for (some larger) Trackables and Coins. And feel free to visit this cache again, to drop some TB's.
- For the lover of coins, you can make your own for €1,05 at walking distance, N53° 12.085 E005° 47.800.
- If you want, take a look in all of the spaces (behind doors) in the Blokhuispoort and the Alibi Hostel. Please keep in mind that there are people who work here.
- It could be crowded with people (muggles), such as working people, guided tours or a (paid) event. They could have questions at your searching activities. Try to search and log as discrete as possible, or come back later. You also can explain that your are joining a game.

- WP1. How many wall anchors are there above the gate (between the two towers) = A
- WP2. Welkom to de Blokhuispoort! Where do you find.. the caretaker (waar vind je.. see map/plattegrond). Take the number that occurs twice after the word "Beheerder" = B
- WP3. No question. 'Ingang Expositieruimte'. At this point you can choose to go trough this door, go left and and visit the free exposition, while going to the next waypoint. Walk through the hall and go through the door to go to the next waypoint. This isn't necessary, the next waypoint could be found outsite of the building.
- WP4. What year is visible in this portal (the oldest one of two with a year), take the last number = C
- WP5. What can be found over here? Is it "Het Gevang" = 7, "De Overval" = 1, "Proefverlof" = 3. This is D.
- WP6. You will find a garden. Of how many characters does the name of the garden exists (inclusive the one between parentheses)? Divide this number by two = E
- WP7. At which floor can you find the reception of Alibi Hostel. It can be found at the front door (you can take a look inside if you want). During Corona you also can take the first number of the closingtime (on the door) = F
- FN. The cache can be found at N 53° 11.(ABC+486) E 005° 48.(DEF-364). Look for the GC logo. The code is ADE. Control nr: 22 (add up all six numbers). The lock is a little precisely, you don't have to pull hard. Good luck!
