On 03/01/2015, I started geocaching on a whim. I was bored to tears on that day, trying to think of what I could do. I had heard a friend mention geocaching in passing years before, so I thought to my self, "What the heck. I'll give it a try." So I downloaded the app, grabbed my kids, and off we went walking to the nearest geocache, "Jungle Gardens of Guadalupe". Over 9 months and 100 finds later, and we're hooked. We were sad to learn that our first find had disappeared and been archived, so we decided to place a new one in its spot in its commemoration. Here is the original description. We don't want this geocaching experience to die off despite the bushes being trimmed:
A small geocache in the heart of the "Guadalupe Jungle". Easy access from nearby parking.
The Jungle - thick natural overgrowth making it difficult to navigate without a local guide. Not something you expect to find in the Arizona Desert, but this is a special case. Leave your machete at home, this jungle is not as large as some, you won't get lost deep in the interior of this one.
The owners of the corner lot here had big plans for the area, which were all but destroyed when the economic downturn occurred. Now that the economy is coming back and construction has started again in Arizona, I have high hopes that the developers will be able to do something with this corner lot, and maybe trim the bushes and trees a bit :) Let's hope so anyway.
