Many years ago a house stood near this location. One of the people who lived there was Sharon Jackson. Her grandfather worked for James Vernor Jr. Eventually they moved away and the house was torn down, but for her this was home. A memorial was placed there for her by friends and family with permission. She is not buried here. The memorial reads "Sharon Jackson 1942-2000". The memorial is near the road under a pine. You do not need to go in the gate to access cache. If it's a breezy or windy day, take the time at the memorial to listen to the wind move through the pines. It's a very calming location. Also, take a walk around the parking area south of GZ. If you go downhill to the west towards the creek, you'll find remnants of the other home that sat here. DNR tore down many homes when the property was acquired. Watch your step! It's steep.
