FADING VIEWS
A simple drive by just off a disused section of the Midland Highway between Ballarat and Creswick.
This geocache is well suited to beginner geocachers or more experienced cachers wishing for an easy find.
Sandwiched between two sections of Pine Plantation this road reserve offers some good but fading views as the young pine forest between the cache and the Highway slowly grows. From here you can view across the district across to Learmonth and Mt Beckworth. On a clear day you can also see several wind farms.
This area is well known for its gold mining history, forestry and apiary (bee keeping). All of which can be seen within 200m of the GZ if you look hard enough.
Given the road is no longer active it is a quiet place to pull over and is relatively safe for children.
The container was a prize that we won at Intervening Days VII at Melton thanks to The 2 Wanderers. Given its bright color, please ensure it is covered up properly before you leave.
