This is a neat little spot to stop and stretch your legs. It is accessable from either direction and it has a good parking area. There is an excellent view of the Sherman Mountains along with a geological description. The name of this cache comes from an unusual tree/rock formation. An explanation of the site is given below.

This small tree that seems to be growing out of solid rock has fascinated travelers since the first train rolled past on the Union Pacific Railroad. It is said that the builders of the original railroad diverted the tracks slightly to pass by the tree as they laid rails across the Sherman Mountains in 1867-69. It is also said that the train stopped here while the locomotive firemen "gave the tree a drink" from their water buckets. The railroad moved several miles to the South in 1901 and the abandoned grade became a wagon road.

There is much more history at this site, so enjoy your stay.
