Geocache Description:

Night Geocaches have been designed to be found at night. They can be difficult or impossible to find during the day.  For example, you must use a flashlight and follow a series of reflectors to find the final location. Some will be easier to spot than others. Just keep looking.

You will start at the trail head. To find the first marker, stand by the trail head tree and look to the south into the darkness and you will see the first HV trail marker to follow. The posted cords are for the trail head.

When doing this night cache, bring a GOOD flashlight and extra batteries if you do not have a backup flashlight with you.  The brighter the better, I think.  Make sure your GPSr batteries are good also and have backups just in case you need it to find your way out.  This is a primitive area in Florida and you may encounter some of the local wildlife.  Be on the lookout if you are by yourself or with others.  Who likes walking into spider webs?  There will be no hill or tree climbing, jumping, streams or rivers to cross.  Most of the walking following the [HV] trail markers to the final location will be in the woods. It will be dark out and the ground will have some fallen trees and branches to cross over and may be a bit uneven at times and on the way back to the parking area, you will be on some type of an established trail that 4 wheelers and golf carts use.  If you have a spider saber/walking stick or cane, bring it.  While in the woods, I would not suggest to have open fires or smoking.  We do not want a wild fire in this area.  While on the established sandy trail, it could be a different story.  You make the decision.

The trail to follow to the GZ will have Fire Tacks trail markers or white highly visible [HV] reflective markers to follow and an orange one next to the highly visible [HV] trail marker where the direction will change.  If you find a HV trail tack with an orange one to the right of it, you will need to look towards the right of where you are standing by the markers.  If the orange marker is to the left of the HV trail marker, you look to the left.  You will need to be next to the position found to find the next one.  Some of the next locations will be easier to see than others. These are highly reflective trail markers.  The final location will be identified by 3 white reflective dots.  This is the location to look on the ground for the cache container.  It is large enough to easily see, so, do not trip over it and place it back where it should be, at the base of the tree with the HV markers on it.

To find your way out back to the parking area, follow the orange tacks or your GPS back to where you parked your vehicle.  While standing at the GZ, look around for the orange trail markers showing which sub trail to get on.  When facing the orange trail markers on the tree, look to your right down the trail for the next orange tack to follow, or you can follow your GPSr and do some bushwhacking. This sub trail will get you out to the main trail which will be marked by two low orange dots, turn left or north to get back to your car.  If you turn right, you will wind up in the Sandy Oaks camp ground.  The round trip should take about 1 hour or less, unless you get lost or cannot find the markers easily.  There is good cell coverage in this area if you need it.  Be safe and have fun.
