Geocache Description:

Seeing Beechworth has become a defacto center of T5 trees, Randolph felt that he should contribute to this exciting new development.
He asked me along to take the photos (for the web page of course!) and to write up the page (I think that means I get stuck with the maintenance!)

Randolph used all his specialist tree climbing gear for the ascent, but he asked me to emphasise that he is a safety rat, so it is possible (if you are very brave) to grab the cache without all this expensive gear, as long as you proceed with caution.

All the usual warnings apply - If it is wet, take your gumbies; if the tree is dead and rotting, wait for it to fall down; like Randolph, wear your helmet even if you are just nearby, etc.

Randolph says he is not such a stickler to insist that every member of the team signs the log, but there is a branch nearby that will allow this (see photo below). If you are silly enough to have forgotten your pen, a photo from the bottom of the tree is NOT good enough!

Although all these trees in this avenue are not listed in the tree register of the National Trust, they are grown from acorns collected from the listed Mayday Hill trees. Seeing you are already in the area, it is worth a visit , just up the road to Mayday Hills to see these trees. There is a walking tour available from the Tourist Information center that can be done while your heart beat returns to normal after your climb.

Note: Randolph now has a tour of Mayday Hills too!

This oak avenue is the Beechworth end of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, so it can be a busy spot. Please don't climb when there are a lot of muggles around. Also the trail is the start of a large series of caches placed by local cachers - Have fun.

PS: Randolph is not so interested in favourite points, but would enjoy any photos, and a good description of your adventure in your log.

Don't forget the clue for Randolph's final.

Randolph has produced 10 tokens that go with his caches for any cachers who find the matching caches.
When you find the caches, PM me your address, and Randolph will post the ones you have earned out to you.
This is the only way you can get one of Randolph's tokens.
The caches that presently have tokens are: 01 Treeclimber, 02 Vampire Hunter, 04 Pirate's Treasure, 05 Shred the Trails, 09 Thirsty work, 10 Rat Hoppet, 11 Ready Aim Fire, 13 Hang Glider, 14 Winton Racer, and 15 The Final.
