Turangi is bisected by the ever-busy State Highway 1, which serves as the main route from north to south, and this section through the town is in nearly constant use. Getting across this intersection in a car is often an act of patience and certainly dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists alike given the 80 kph speed limit.
During our stays in Turangi we use this facility most days, normally riding under here on our bikes. We believe that there has been a geocache placed near here in the past so we decided to add one of our own.
