Geocache Description:

This cache salutes our local fly fishers, and is placed near one of the Hutt River’s many entry points.

An Angler's Wish

‘tis not a proud desire of mine;
I ask for nothing superfine;
no heavy weight, no salmon great, to break the record or my line:

Only an idle little stream whose amber waters softly gleam,
where I may wade, through woodland shade,
and cast the fly, and loaf and dream.

Only a trout or two, to dart from foaming pools, and try my art:
no more I'm wishing, old-fashioned fishing,
and just a day on nature's heart.

-- Henry Van Dyke

Often when driving or walking along the banks of the Hutt River you’ll see a lone figure on the stones, or knee deep; casting flies into a quiet pool. The river has a good population of brown trout and surveys have counted between 100 and 150 trout per kilometre. A mixture of pools, rapids and runs offer good fishing throughout its length. Willows and other trees provide good cover for fish and the water is easily wadeable.

The cache is an aptly cammoed ammo tin with ample room for trackables and swag. Please take care when replacing the cache as we don't want this one to be reeled in by a passing muggle.
