Designed to follow on from the View of the River Eden cache this placement will hopefully be a quick find before you descend down towards Holme Farm. Once you've collected the cache the path crosses the field and a track takes you down into the farmstead. The footpath takes you right along the front of the cattle sheds, crossing a concrete pad between the shed and the retaining sleeper wall of the midden. To your right you will see a large flat field which is used for Appleby Harness Racing. The path exits the field and the walker may continue into Appleby via Holme Farm bridge or prolong the walk by taking a route top side or riverside of Holme Farm woods. Either woodland option is quite pleasant though the top path is narrower and more uneven.
N.B Please note that this path is across farm land, please keep dogs on a lead and under control. Horses and sheep can be expected year round. Suckler cows, calves at foot and a stock bull may be encountered between turning out and the back end - variable depending on weather conditions. Please be aware that the stock do congregate around the exits points of the fields. Congratulations to MacGrumpy on being FTF.
