Geocache Description:

All Saints Church.

It is thought that a church stood here in Norman times. The first known rector whose date is known was W de Dyke in 1328.


1744 box type pews were installed

In 1756 Vestry added N side of chancel and S wall of nave rebuilt
1794 Further repairs, probably extensive.
In the 19th Century N aisle and organ chamber added, galleries removed seating re arranged to provide an extra 73 places. Rose window over organ added. N porch and S door walled up in 1874.

The only ancient part of the church remaining is the late-perpendicular tower and part of the chancel walls

The wagon roof of the nave is divided in to squares by oak timbers. Present day pew ends are made of oak removed from the old nave roof .

The octagonal font, said to have come from Surrey is 14th / 15th C. It is unusual, possibly unique because the top is made of plaster.

in 1933 south wall window depicting Our Lord blessing European and Oriental children was added. In 1998 South wall window illustrating the parable of the sower and the seed and in 2001 millennium window installed depicting the nativity.
