Geocache Description:

Have you ever seen a Hippolyth? It's a large 250lbs spider that eats small mammals. It is rumored that one lives in a cave somewhere around here. Anyhow... This cache is in the woods just east of Wynn Drive; on the hill between University Drive and Oakwood College.

UPDATE 2-10-08, cache has been replaced and relocated. Update: 3-19-06, this cache has been replaced.

Park in the dead-end road off of Wynn Drive about 0.23 mile West of the cache location. (You may want to try to approach from Redding Road, but the neighbors may raise their eyebrows and the dogs bark a lot.) Wynn Drive now runs north all the way to Oakwood College.

From the dead-end road, (This is about where the lower red 29 is on the Topo map.) Follow the grass road up the hill where it runs beside the woods. As you start back down the hill, look to the right for an opening into the woods. (N34°44.939 W86°39.043) About 15 feet in, you will see an orange cone. (Strange, it was there already). This is a trail that leads beside an old fence. The trail will cross the fence and lead into the woods. Follow it along as it heads down the slope. To the left, you will see a very *large* sink area. The cache is in there.

What is it? The cache is a lock-n-lock with a few small treasure trinkets.

Important: insect repellant!

Also, your GPS may not work very well down in this sink. Get up on top of the rim and try it there. Your GPS can get you within 3 feet of the cache from the top, but the cache is actually down below.
