Welcome to AA Peak at Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. This is my first go at a Wherigo. I have tested the cartridge both on an iPhone as well as my Oregon 400C. Both platforms worked very well.
NOTE: The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates.
Wherigos are "played" via mini programs called cartridges that you must download BEFORE you can play the wherigo and find the cache. Visit the "Related Web Page" link at the top of this cache page to download the cartridge. Wherigo cartridges can be played on various formats to include Garmin Colorado, older Garmin Oregon, Garmin Nuvi 500 GPS units, as well as iPhones and Android phones via Wherigo apps that you need to download to your phone. You could even play Wherigos on an iPad or similar Android device also running a Wherigo app. When you click on the "Related Web Page" link, you will be directed to the Wherigo web page. IF you are using your smart phone to play the cartridge, remember to use the drop-down menu option for "Pocket PC Devices" as this is the only way the cartridge will work on your phone. For Garmin Colorado, Oregon & Nuvi 500 GPS units, you would use the appropriate drop-down option for your specific GPS unit.
The Wherigo takes you to three stops at the peak. The information for each stop is found at the three kiosk you will visit. Each kiosk has a different theme and will give you some interesting history as well as information about this part of Cougar Mountain. Bring some paper and a writing stick. Not only will you need the writing stick to sign the log, but also some paper to take down the final coordinates as you work through the cartridge. Once you have found the cache, you are at a perfect spot the jump on one of several trails that end/begin at the peak. There is also a number of caches near by to enjoy.
The cache itself is a unique container that I "fixed up" for this cache. I hope you enjoy the tour of AA peak.
FTF honors go to: Sproutter, Rambudo, Winos Seattle, TeaPot2007 and FridayH31 for the group FTF.
