Located in Jiji Township, Nantou County, Wuchang Temple 武昌宮 was originally built in 1923 to worship a high-ranking Taoist deity. The temple was renovated and expanded in 1990.
On September 21, 1999, a 7.6 earthquake struck Taiwan. The quake's epicenter was in Jiji and devastated many parts of Nantou. The quake caused Wuchang Temple to collapse, leaving its upper floors resting on the ground.
Although a new temple has been built next door, the original temple has been left as a reminder of that terrible day.
The cache is a bison tube and is located in the gate at the rear of the temple. A simple tool is required to retrieve the container. This small tool can be found at the rear gate by the cache, as well as at the two fire boxes on the exterior of the new temple next door (see photo). Please make sure to replace the tool when finished.
Bring your own pen. Please do not include photos of the tool or container location.
