The island of Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when the Turkish Army 'invaded', or came to the rescue of their fellow countrymen depending upon your point of view. The UN came to the rescue of those caught in the middle and small communities around the island remain to this day estranged from their brethren and neighbours 'just down the road'.
One such community is that of Αχεριτου , now situated on the Turkish side and now know as Güvercinlik. Here the local community goes about it’s daily business only a matter of about four hundred metres away from it’s neighbours in the small village of Vrysoulles, however to get from one to the other involves a thirty minute drive via Famagusta and passage through the ‘Black Knight’ check point.
This cache is hidden at a pleasant vantage point on the Sovereign Base Area, overlooking the estranged village of Güvercinlik. This location is accessible by normal car, but watch out for a few potholes in the road!
The container is a small ‘lock and lock’ container, with a log book, pencil and a few small trade items. Enjoy
