Geocache Description:

Broad Creek Church was built as a Methodist Church in 1909. The foundation stone was laid by Mrs J. Lawrie on the 16th of June in that year. The Church is situated on a quarter acre block of land situated in the north-east corner of section 100 of Napperby and was donated by Mrs J. Lawrie whose name figures in the early history of Port Pirie.

Of the "Special Events" two are of significance. The Harvest Festival and the Sunday School Anniversary. On the occation of the Harvest Festival the front of the church was suitably decorated with sheaves of hay, pumpkins, trombones, in fact anything that grew. For the Sunday School Anniversary the children were seated at the pulpit and faced the congregation. They had practised their special songs and hymns beforehand and were usually assisted by the organist, who was noted to be Mrs J. Lawrie.

For several years, the Education Department conducted the Broad Creek School in the back room of the church.
