NSP-Lorne 2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bunjil: Unfortunately, I cannot see any information that indicates that steps have been taken to resolve the issue/s associated with this placement. Therefore as advised previously, the cache is being de-listed (Archived) to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains what needs to happen with a Disable cache.

Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center article here.

If you wish to contact me please send an email via my profile - Bunjil, and quote the cache name and GC number.

Geocache Description:

Another one of Lorne’s Neighbourhood Safer Places-Places of last resort, this area has been assessed to have a lower amount of vegetation and more protection from radiant heat. This small cache requires extreme stealth, especially if it’s busy.

The area has been designated as this place of last resort. This place shouldn’t be put into your first few bushfire survival plans. It should be your last option, as the name states. This place won’t protect you from any smoke, embers, or even all the radiant heat, they do not guarantee safety. They may provide protection from direct flame and some radiant heat. Radiant heat is actually one of the most dangerous things in a fire situation and it affects more people than what the actual fire does. It’s important that if you do find yourself needing to be here, wear clothing (wool/cotton) that covers all your skin and even wear goggles to protect your eyes from the smoke.  Know the Fire Danger rating for each day, know your area and know your exits. To know what the day is expected to be you can download the Fire Ready App to your phone, check the CFA website and even listen to your local radio station (ABC, 774). Take a stroll out on the pier and enjoy the beach; it’s a beautiful spot to be on a nice day. Just not when there is a bushfire!!  Let’s hope that will never happen! Enjoy the area. Stay alert, stay safe Geocachers!
