Sunflowers have been grown in North Otago since 1974 by a local company Topflite. During mid and late summer large paddock are ablaze of bright yellow blooms and many locals and visitors come to view and take photos.
The crop is grown in a different location each year. In 2016 large fields of sunflower seeds were planted alongside Tutu Hill and Parson Roads.
