Edward Tolin was listed in the 1904, 1908 and 1912 Stanwood City Directories as the manager of the I.O.O.F.Fraternal Hall. The Stanwood Lodge I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) was formed in 1908. Tolin, a local saloonkeeper purchased the house directly south of the Hall in 1896.
One of the Tolin family members, Clyde, became Stanwood City Clerk for several years but didn't stay in this particular house. Other family members scattered. The house was in disrepair when the stanwood area historical society purchased it in the early 2000s. It has since become the office and visitor center for the Society and its Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center next door.
