The adventure of this cache is in getting to the location. The island of Eua is a an awesome destination for the adventurous traveller, offering arguably the best whale watching / swimming with whales experience available anywhere in the world. Eua is still largely covered by native rainforest, with great hiking opportunities and stunning coastal cliffs. It very short flight (less than 10min) from Tonga's international airport or about 3hrs on the ferry from the capital Nuku'alofa. There are few facilities on the island and only basic accommodation, so come prepared!
The cache can be accessed via Tufuvai Beach which is right in front of ‘The Deep Resort’. Alternately, it can be accessed by a 10min walk along a rainforest track from ‘The Hideaway’.
During whale season Tufuvai Beach is great for whale watching, with amazing numbers of humpbacks swimming past. It is also a great family beach beautiful white coral sand and shallow water protected by a rock platform with some small blowholes. If you are confident enough to snorkel out past a challenging break on the edge of the rock platform you’ll be well rewarded with heaps of fish & coral.
