Geocache Description:

Welcome to a short tour of Freestone Point, an iconic location with great views and a lot of history. This is a 4 Stage Multicache you will need to visit 3 historical interpretive signs to get the final coordinates for this geocache.

 


Find the information at each sign to fill in the following final stage coordinates: N 38° 35.ABC W 77° 14.DEF

At Stage 1 you are looking for a sign entitled "Fight on the Potomac." At what time did "the enemy open fire..." These 2 digits are EF in the final coordinates.

At Stage 2 you are looking for a sign entitiled "A Pacific Paradise on the Potomac." On what deck was the cocktail lounge, this is B for the final coordinates. The number of letters in the type of décor that was in the lounge is D for the final coordinates.

At Stage 3 you are looking for a sign entitled "At the point of rock." The last 2 digits on the sign are AC for the final coordinates.

 

This cache is part of the Virginia State Parks 80th Anniversary Adventure. Each state park has a unique cache for this series.

This cache is in a clear lock-n-lock container and will contain a logbook, pencil and unique collector's card. There are small prizes for finding 5, 10, 20 and ALL of the caches.
