El Lugar
La Catedral de San Carlos de Bariloche, "Nuestra Señora del Nahuel Huapi", es el principal templo católico de la ciudad de San Carlos de Bariloche, en Argentina. Se encuentra en la intersección de las calles Almirante O’Connor y Beschtedt, rodeada por dos plazas con hermosos jardines.
Para la construcción de la Catedral de Bariloche, el arquitecto Alejandro Bustillo ofreció su proyecto gratuitamente. Su sentimiento se orientó en un estilo neogótico con reminiscencias francesas. Un proyecto que incluía, buscado o no, algo de las herméticas ciencias medievales.
El edificio tiene forma de cruz latina. Su cabecera está orientada exactamente al Este, de modo que el sol ilumina desde el comienzo del día. Así también se logra esfumar las diversas variaciones de la luz, al pasar por los vitrales. Vista desde el exterior, se generan planos de luz y sombra acentuando sus rasgos arquitectónicos ya mencionados.
El material usado para su edificación fue la “piedra blanca”.
En el caso del techo, son de color negro y culminan en un campanario de 69 metros en forma de aguja.
The Place
The Cathedral of San Carlos de Bariloche, "Our Lady of Nahuel Huapi" is the main Catholic church in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina. It is located in the intersection of streets Admiral O'Connor, and Beschtedt, surrounded by two parks with beautiful gardens.
For the construction of the Cathedral, the architect Alejandro Bustillo offered his project for free. His feeling was oriented in a neo-Gothic style with French reminiscences. A project which included sought or not, some hermetic medieval sciences.
The building has a Latin cross. Its head is oriented exactly east, so that the sun shines from the beginning of the day. This also achieves blending the different variations of light passing through the glass. Seen from the outside, planes of light and shade are generated accentuating its architectural features already mentioned.
The material used for its construction was the "white stone". For the roof, they are black and culminating in a bell tower of 69 meters needle.
