Original history -- On 01/10/2008 POJ passed this spot on the way to find the former “Go Fish…” cache, which was hidden deep in the woods, beyond the pond. As Bad Luck would have it, when he sat down to do the paperwork for that cache & check the contents of the D-con container, the restraining strap on a sheath holding a big hunting knife broke & the knife silently fell on the ground.
However, Good Luck brought ‘poosu’ along later the same day (he was then known as ‘SurvivorFlorida’). He spotted the knife & brought it home to Port Orange. Being a good guy, he wrote to me as the last finder & within a day or two we met at the Ormond Beach Walmart, where he returned what he calls a “Rambo Knife”!
History in the making -- In more recent years POJ & poosu do a little summer caching in NH & MA, along with cacher ‘findit’. During the winter Snowbird Season we try to cache 3 or 4 times a month in northeast FL, along with cacher ‘Delaine S’ (the Ocala National Forest is a standby for numbers).
More history -- For better or for worse, Geocachers come & go within this game. The owner of the former “Go Fish…” cache (‘sephonna’) used to be one of the most active cachers in Flagler County & she beat POJ out of more than one FTF. At the time this was written her last visit to geocaching.com was in 2012. Time marches on & Geocaching continues to GROW.
Final historical information: The new decon container was donated by ‘poosu’ & duplicates the original used for “Go Fish…”. To properly close a decon make sure the strap is not between the cover & the bottom, then push down on each corner until you hear a SNAP.
