Geocache Description:

There is History here - once a terminus for the main trunk railway after which travellers would continue their journey north by road or horse back. A branch line was started before the world war 2 but was never completed which was intended to connect to the Waiau track. You can still see remnants of this line along the leader road.

 

 


 

Looking west you see the Parnassus mountains named by an earlier settler who it is said reminded him of mount Parnassus in Greece - and indeed if you look - you can see the resemblance 

The railway platform and station is long gone , but you can still see some items here and there ( concrete fence posts and concrete stopping blocks
