Marutswa Forest

Marutswa is a satellite area falling under the control and jurisdiction of Ezemvelo Wildlife – their encouragement and support for this project is gracefully acknowledged.
Conceptualised by the Bluwer Biosphere and funded by the SappiWWF Tree Routes Partnership, it is intended that the Marutswa Forest Project will provide and promote the conservation of Bulwer’s unique biodiversity by supporting eco-tourism initiative that will in turn lead to the conservation of threatened forest habitats.
Concepts and planning for the Marutswa Forest project was first initiated in 2004. Through generous funding, the project was commissioned in 2007 and completed in 2008.
There is a small fee of R20 per Adult and R10 per child (at the time of Publish) Please note Wildcards and Rhino cards do not apply!
It is sad to see that the project seems to have gone a little backwoods now and the nursery that was build does not seem to be working. The buildings and forest have been neglected a little and could do with some work.
To get to the Marutswa Forest drive to Bulwer and follow the Marutswa Forest Boardwalk signs. This is a lovely little walk in a forest. The total length of the walk is about 1.2 km and the bottom trail is a contour walk (Ballie Friendly)
I have included a trail map which I was able to get, please see the att pictures. I would recommend printing it out before going. It was of great assistance to me. The project does not supply these maps presently.
