This cache is located at Bonham Park, named for James Butler Bonham. Born in 1807 in South Carolina, Bonham found his way to Texas via Mobil, Alabama where he organized a volunteer company called the Mobiel Grays to serve in the fight for Texas independece. Bonham became a trusted associate of Sam Houston after writing to him and offering his services to the cause. Bonham was killed in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836, being one of the most "romanticized" soldiers of this conflict according to the Texas State Historical Association.
This park has and is still going through renovations to add equipment for the kids so be aware that construction may be going on. Parking is available on the side of the street, and in the lot next to the park. Stelth is required due to the wide open spaces and the school next door.
