Park at the entrance to the walkway at the bottom of Hartwood Road - across from the junction at Foulburn Road. There is limited parking here. The walkway is popular with dog walkers - your own doggies will love it. This is not suitable for wheelchairs but fine for bikes and safe for kids. There are well worn footpaths but it can be a bit muddy if wet. Non drivers can access this cache (and a couple of others nearby) from Hartwood railway station - 10 minute walk from there.
The cache is on top of the spoil heap or small "Bing" as they are locally referred to. The Shotts and Allanton area have a long history of mining and this has left its mark on the local landscape. Bowhousebog is a site of importance for nature conservation in North Lanarkshire - a few years ago many native trees were planted in this area.
When the cache is found, and it's dry weather, enjoy a seat at the top and take in the views.
