Geocache Description:

This is another in our ''Remembering the Fallen'' Series.

Note that this cache will take you on a road trip covering 6 stages and approximately 200 kilometres, you can do it in one staright run or over many trips.

Important note to complete this cache there is no requirement to climb, disturb, interfere or touch any of the memorials, just look, remember and honour those who served. Thank you.


Ballarat Arch of Victory and Avenue of Honour.

The starting co-ordinates for this cache will bring you to the Ballarat Arch of Victory and Avenue of Honour, these are 2 features in Ballarat which do not glorify war, but are here to honour those who served to ensure that we live in peace.


At the starting co-ordinate you will be standing in front of a plaque. 

ABCD = the year the first planting took place

EF = The Length in kilometres

The next Memorial is located at S3D (4*B).0CD E14(F+1) (EF-10).590

Memorial 2.


At this memorial you will find a plaque with the following details:-

ABCD = The year listed for the Estate starting with I

E = The number who died from the Estate starting with B

FGHI = The year listed for the Estate starting with B

The next Memorial is located at S3D H(A-F).C8F E14H (E-1)(D-A).HHE

 

Memorial 3.


At this memorial you will be standing in front of a plaque on a building.

ABCD = The year the foundation stone was Laid

Whilst facing the building, look to your left and about 20 metres away you will see another object, on this object is another plaque.

EF = How many parts are mentioned

GHIJ = The year this object was installed


The next Memorial is located at S3(J+E+F) JH.B70 E14J (E+F)5.D8C


Memorial 4.


At this memorial one of the brick pavers will have a phone number on it 1800 ABC DEF


The next Memorial is located at S3B CF.BFB E14C (C+1)E.C3C


Memorial 5.


Here you will be standing at a Plaque dedicated to those who served in the Air Force in the South west Pacific area.

A B C D E FG HI JK LM NOP = the squadron Numbers


The next Memorial is located at S3D K9.APD E14(C-A) AB.EEC


Memorial 6.


At this memorial you will find a plaque with the following details on it.

AB = Weight of tallest structure in ton's

CD = Reach of main flag pole in Metres

EF = The number of years that the Cenotaph originally stood in another location


The next and final Memorial is located at S3(D-C) 0C.CD(F-C) E14F CB.0(A+C)B


Memorial 7.


Here you will be facing 4 pillars, you will need to look at the 1st pillar on the left, With SERVICEMEN 1939 - 45.

B = Surnames beginning with B

L = Surnames beginning with L

N = Surnames beginning with N

W = Surnames beginning with W


The Final cache is located a short walk away at S3(L+N) 0W.0(L+N+W)B E14L W(L+N).0W8


The cache is a 200ml Sistema , once you get to GZ there is really only one spot that it could be hidden. At times it can be a busy area with muggles driving by in their cars, so just time your grab
