The NGT-SAKE series of caches takes the geocacher around one of the most famous sake-brewing areas of Hyogo and introduces them to several well-respected breweries where they can take in the history of one aspect of Japanese culture.
"Nishinomiya is part of an area referred to as "Nada-Gogo(5areas of Nada)". In Nishinomiya, Nishinomiya-go and Imazu-go are two of the five brewery groups that make up the Nada-Gogo area. This area is widely known as a sake product district specializing in brewing of the "Raw Spirit of Nada". The history of sake brewing in Nishinomiya is quite long, and the "delicious sake of Nishinomiya" had been well-known as far back as the Muromachi era." - Nishinomiya Tourism Association
The brewery was founded in 1862 at the bottom of Mt. Rokko where famous Rokko-oroshi gale blows down the mountain. The founder pursued the very best. The rice used is the premium Yamada-nishiki, grown in specially designated districts by contracted farmers. The water is Miyamizu, rich in minerals suitable for sake making. Kimoto-tukuri, a time-consuming traditional brewing method, is employed to achieve rich and mellow dry sake."
The cache container is small and GZ is not too far from Hanshin Nishinomiya station. Watch out for traffic and muggles.
