Gebaseerd op de originele cache idee GC3QQAZ door ThinkInk. Dat was de eerste geocache die ik vond. Vandaar dat ik deze nu weer tot leven wek. Bedankt ThinkInk dat ik het idee mag hergebruiken!
In 1938 werden tijdens het World Petroleum Congress bij een demonstratieboring aan de Mient in Den Haag door de Bataafse Petroleum Maatschappij (BPM) op een diepte van 464 meter sporen aardolie aangetroffen. Deze demonstratie diende ertoe om te laten zien hoe men naar aardolie zocht in het verre Oosten. Ter herinnering aan deze aardolievondst is dit monument geplaatst.
N.a.v. de oliesporen in Den Haag werd na de Tweede Wereldoorlog verder in West Nederland naar aardolie gezocht. De eerste winbare hoeveelheid werd in 1953 in Rijswijk gevonden. Omdat de olie te stroperig werd en daardoor moeilijk winbaar, werden de velden van West Nederland verlaten op die van Rotterdam-Schiebroek na. (Bron: Wikipedia)
Hedentendage dus geen olie meer, maar wel een leuke kinderboerderij vlakbij en nu ook een cache. De cache ligt niet op het terrein van de kinderboerderij, maar naast het pad langs de kinderboerderij. Dit pad valt wel net binnen het buitenste hek van de kinderboerderij. Sinds november 2016 is dit hek soms gesloten buiten de openingstijden van de kinderboerderij: dinsdag tot en met zondag van 9:00 tot 17:00 (maandag gesloten). De cache is dus soms niet bereikbaar buiten deze tijden te vinden en loggen.
Naast fietsen of wandelen is de cache goed te bereiken met buslijn 21. Tegenover de cache kan langs de straat worden geparkeerd. Betaald parkeren tussen 18:00 en 24:00.
Let op bij het loggen, het is een geliefd wandelpad voor hondenbezitters, dus let op voor (honden)dreuzels en de hondenpoep.
Een pincet kan handig zijn. Er is geen ruimte voor trackables, geocoins of een pen, je moet dus zelf iets meebrengen om mee te schrijven. Het is niet nodig stenen te verplaatsen. Alle stenen op hun plaats laten liggen a.u.b.!

During a demonstration drilling in 1938 during the World Petrol Contress, the “Bataafse Petroleum Maatschappij (BPM)” discovered traces of oil at a depth of 464 meters. This demonstration was intended to show how they drilled oil in the Far East.
To remember finding traces of oil here, this monument was erected.
Because of these traces of oil in The Hague, after the Second World War, people drilled for oil at other locations in the West of the Netherlands. The first commercially exploitable amount was found in 1953 in Rijswijk.

Nowadays no oil can be found here anymore, but there is a nice petting zoo nearby, and a cache. The cache is not on the terrain of the petting zoo, but next to the path along the petting zoo. This path is within the outer fence around the petting zoo. Starting november 2016 this fence is sometimes closed outside the opening hours of the petting zoo: Tuesday until Sunday (including) from 9:00 to 17:00 (Monday closed). So you may not be able to reach the cache outside these hours.
Apart from biking or walking to the cache, it can also be reached with public transport, with bus 21. Opposite the cache you can park along the street.
When logging the cache, please note that the path next to it is a favorite path for dog walkers. Please mind these (dog)muggles and the dog poo!
Tweezers may be helpful. The cache has no room for a trackables, geocoins or a pencil, so please bring something to write. There is no need to move stones, please do not move or remove stones.
