Geocache Description:

Right in the heart of Whitehorse is one of the city's most supportive habitats for an array of shorebirds, gulls and Arctic terns. The islands here on the Yukon River provide an ideal breeding habitat and predator refuge for the largest Mew Gull colony in the Yukon.

The Arctic Tern can be seen resting (or breeding!) along this River. If you see one, you will be looking at the long-distance bird champion! These terns migrate further than any other bird in the world, often making a yearly journey from Antartica to its breeding grounds in the arctic (traveling up to 40,000km).

Please be respectful of the birds and other wildlife in the area, and do not feed them. Don't go too close to the River, and stay off of the ice in the winter. Watch our for vehicles if crossing the road from the Walmart parking lot - they come quickly around that bend!

Have fun finding the geocache and share your photos from your adventure (not revealing the exact location of course!).

You will need to bring your own pen for this one!
