Geocache Description:


Parking Coordinates are provided, and MUST be used!

Center Township is graciously allowing us access to the cemetery. But, you MUST USE THE PARKING
COORDINATES. From the parking coordinates, follow the lane back until it opens up into a grassy field. Turn right, and the cemetery will be about 100 yards in front of you. There is no need to walk in the fields on either side of the lane.




"Down the Lane" are cemetery caches we've placed that are off the beaten path.
They are not located on, or possibly even visible from, paved roads.
As these locations may have dirt or grass entrances, their conditions can be affected by weather.

We hope you have fun tracking these hidden gems! :)

Fetters Cemetery
Center Township, Ohio

The Fetters Cemetery is on land bought by Jacob Fetters from the State of Ohio in 1834. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1792 and was a soldier in The War of 1812. He died in 1836 and was buried on his land. Another burial here was of Frederick Miser, who was said to have had a deer hunting contest with George Bible in which Bible killed 99 deer and Miser 65 in two months. There is some doubt whether this contest actually happened, but there is no doubt that Bible killed many deer and Frederick Miser and his brother were famous hunters in the "35 Mile Long Woods" that extended south into Paulding County.



Fetters Cemetery has been maintained by Center Township since 1989, but is is seriously overgrown. It doesn't look like it has been mowed in years. Hopefully, the township will soon have funds to keep this cemetery the way it deserves.
