Welkom in Holten!
Een buurtschap gelegen aan het Zwartewater, tussen Hasselt en Zwolle. Bij ons in de omgeving kunt u de Kievitsbloem (Fritillaria meleagris) bewonderen. De kievitsbloem is een bolgewasje uit de leliefamilie. Het bloeit van eind april tot begin mei. Naast paarse exemplaren komen er ook witte voor. Bestuiving gebeurt vooral door hommels. De zaden zijn in begin juni rijp en worden verspreid door het water tijdens overstromingen. Het beheer in dit gebied is volledig afgestemd op de kievitsbloem. Er wordt pas gemaaid na 21 juni, als het zaad al is verspreid. Door de bodem schraal te houden, komen er geen snelgroeiende planten die de kwetsbare kievitsbloem in het voorjaar zouden overwoekeren.
Er moet eerst gepuzzeld worden om de juiste coördinaten te krijgen.

The township Holten is situated at the Zwarewater waterfront, between the cities Hasselt and Zwolle. In this area you can admire the Fritillaria meleagris (or Kievietsbloem in Dutch). The Fritillaria melaegris is a flowering plant in the lily family. The plant blooms from end of April to the begin of May. Besides purple species there are also white ones. The start of june marks the readiness of the seeds and they are moved by the water during floods. The most common pollinator of the plant is the bumblebee. Wildlife service and farming in this area is adapted to the Fritillaria. Mowing by farmers is only done after June 21st, when the seeds of the plant are spread. By making sure the soil is poor, the chance of fast growing plants overgrowing the vulnerable Fritillaria is minimized.
