Geocache Description:

This cache is a nod to the nearby music venue. As I live not too far away, I wanted to show it a mark of respect. I have watched many amazing bands here over the years. It is quite a small place but has a great atmosphere.

It started life in the 1860s and is shown as a Beer House on the 1878 Drink Map. Southampton was described as one of the most intemperate cities of the country. To prove its point the Temperance Society published its Drink Map of Southampton to show the inhabitants just how boozy their city was. It mapped 522 licensed properties. With a population of 80,000 people that was one pub to every 153 people. Beer Houses, as they were called, only had a license to sell beer. They were identified on the map by a red star. The good intentions of the Temperance Society however backfired. Seafarers would come ashore and buy a map for 2d and visit as many pubs as they could!

You will need a pen and possibly tweezers for this cache. Can be done as a cache n dash. Difficulty level refers to possible high level of muggles and overlooking properties. Please replace exactly as found.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MOLEMON, TOM&CHRISTINA AND K076 FOR FTF WELL DONE!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
