Geocache Description:

This short multi/offset cache will being you to a small pocket park near downtown Newport that should provide you with some interesting history. 


Dr. John Clarke was physician, baptist minister, statesman, and one of the co-founders of Newport, Rhode Island. Near the posted coordinates you will find an engraved marble monument erected in his honor which will give you information on his life. Use the below formula and information to locate the final cache, which is located nearby:

Clarke was born on October M, 1609.

In November of 163P he arrived in the New World.

He settled on Aquidneck Island in spring of 163L.

Clarke was arrested in 165N for his Baptist Faith.

In 16O3, as a result of Clarke’s labors, King Charles II granted Rhode Island their royal charter

On April 20, 16Q6, Clarke died.
