Geocache Description:

This cache is the first in the western section of the Rock Run Valley.   Public access here is easy.   There is plenty of parking along Brickyard Road and even a cement grid area near two utility boxes.   A narrow trail begins between the boxes and heads down toward the stream.  To find the cache, turn left and stay up in the woods.   Difficulty is increased because the gps bounces under the forest canopy.

Rock Run Stream Valley Park is a narrow, winding park that follows the Rock Run stream along the western and southern edge of the Avenel golf course. It then widens as it passes to the north of the Carderock and Palisades neighborhoods, tapering again along the eastern edge of the Naval Surface Warfare Center to the C&O Canal. The 143 acre park is undeveloped for active recreation, and was acquired by M-NCPPC in 1981.

I am placing caches to highlight the public access points to this little visited park.

The houses in this area are on individual 2 acre+ lots.  The woods are quite clear of trash though there is an old bottle dump not far from where you turn off the trail that might be fun to look through.  When the leaves are down, you can see the twisting curves of Rock Run below.  The cache is hidden in a traditional spot.  Those who have found my earlier caches in the area will recognize the container.

Undaunted by the remains of Snowzilla, unusualsuspect earned First to Find honors with an early morning find.
