This is a 3-mile round trip hike. The final leg is off trail and through the woods.
Start at the Etowah Trail sign post in Boling Park, Canton GA. The entrance to the park is at the river bridge. In Canton, go to the bridge over the Etowah River, which has GA Hwys 5 and 140 crossing it. If driving north, at the north end of the bridge turn left into Boling Park. Drive about 0.7 miles to the area of the walking track. Depending on the time of year, you may see many soccer games in progress as you drive by the fields. Our future World Cup champions are growing up and learning the sport. We suggest you continue along the Etowah trail to N34 14.424 W84 30.924 before taking the orange trail. Container is an ammo box. Initial contents include letterbox stamp/log, geocache log, cat stamp bookmark, waterproof matches, magic bubbles, hot wheels car, GPS food (batteries), glass message stones, mini water pistols, etc. The leaves on the trees during high summer may make satelite reception difficult at times. ALTERNATIVE STARTING POINT - Hightower Baptist Church at end of Shoal Creek Road. There may be some logging going one.
