Situated to the west of Gran Canaria, La Aldea de San Nicolás is a municipality whose unique orography offers some unrivalled beauty spots. These have a high ecological value, featuring stunning panoramic views which make this place a wonderful virgin territory, and well worth a visit. With a surface area covering 139 square kilometres, all of which a Biospfere Reserve, it is the third largest municipality on the island. Stony and sandy beaches, small coves and caverns are dotted along its 33 kilometres of coastline.
La Aldea is situated among forested mountain valleys overbooking the Atlatic, and most families work on the tomato-farms well as growing potatoes and other vegetables and fruits, irrigated by reservoirs that collect winter rain. Tourism is also a significant industry, though not as much as in the south of the island.
The little port is even located outside the village itself, to reach on a small street. There is a Tourist Information Point (Visitor´s Center) next to the parking lots, where you will as well find the cache ;-)
Since November 2017 the cache is officially approved by the Tourist Information Office.
There is a logbook located inside the office, which can be visited and signed during operating hours from Monday to Friaday, 08:30 hrs. to 14:30 hrs.
As well you can find a “postbox” outside the building for use, when the Visitor´s Center is closed and/or if you do not want to get inside - but, the employees would be happy to welcome you. As the key to the post box has been stolen, you can use this only by dropping a logsheet, which you need to bring yourself - sorry.
The office and the postbox can as well be used as a travel bug / trackable hotel. Both should be save.
After logging, take a little walk to the quayside to feel the wind and have a great view to the cliffs and the sea.

"La Aldea de San Nicolás de Tolentino" (vorher bis 2005 San Nicolás de Tolentino) liegt im Westen der Kanaren-Insel Gran Canaria. Die Einheimischen nennen den Ort allerdings kurz "La Aldea". Die Gemeinde hat 7969 Einwohner (Stand 1. Januar 2015). Der Tourismus und die damit einhergehende Infrastruktur sind hier noch nicht so stark ausgeprägt wie beispielsweise an der Südküste. Der Bereich um San Nicolás ist daher eher landwirtschaftlich geprägt. Der Ort lebt in der Hauptsache von seinen ausgedehnten Tomatenplantagen. Mit Wasser versorgt werden die Plantagen von zahlreichen Stauseen in den Bergen, die das Wasser aus den Regenfällen im Winter speichern. Neben den Tomaten gibt es noch allerlei andere landwirtschaftliche Produkte in San Nicolás. Kartoffeln, Gemüse und allerlei Früchte werden angebaut.

Der kleine Hafen des Ortes liegt ein wenig abseits der Hauptstraße. Dort ist neben den Parkplätzen ein Touristen-Info-Zentrum (Oficina Turismo de la Aldea) gelegen, wo ihr auch den cache finden könnt.
Seit November 2017 ist der cache offiziell durch das Info-Zentrum genehmigt. Während der Öffnungszeiten liegt dort ein Logbuch aus von Montag - Freitag, 08.30 - 14.30 Uhr.
Außerhalb derer und/oder, wenn man nicht hineingehen möchte, könnt ihr den "Briefkasten" nutzen, der sich außen am Gebäude befindet. Allerdings würden sich die Mitarbeiter sehr über euren Besuch freuen. Da der Schlüssel leider entwendet wurde, kann außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten höchstens durch den Einwurf eines Logzettels in den Briefkasten, den ihr allerdings mitbringen müsstm gelogt werden.
Info-Zentrum und Briefkasten können auch als TB-Hotel genutzt werden.
Geht nach dem Loggen ruhig noch ein paar Schritte spazieren und erklimmt einmal die Kaimauer, setzt euch dem Wind aus und genießt von dort den schönen Blick auf die Steilküste und das Meer.

La Aldea de San Nicolás es el municipio más occidental de la isla de Gran Canaria, islas Canarias. Su población es de 7969 (2015) y con 139 kilómetros cuadrados de superficie es el tercer municipio en extensión de la isla y Reserva de la Biosfera en su totalidad.
A lo largo de sus 33 kilómetros de costa se intercalan playas de piedra, pequeñas calas, cuevones, playas de arena. El punto más elevado del municipio es la montaña de Inagua, con más de 1.300 metros de altura.
La Aldea de San Nicolás situada a 69 km desde Las Palmas de Gran Canaria tomando la carretera norte, GC 2 y a 59 km desde el municipio de San Bartolomé situado en el sur de la isla tomando la carretera GC 1.
La Aldea de San Nicolás es un valle cercado por imponentes montañas de origen volcánico con unas vistas espectaculares al Atlántico. La Mayoría de las familias trabajan en fincas de tomates así como en el cultivo de papas y otras verduras y frutas. Como no llueve mucho, se han construido presas para guardar el agua de la lluvia. El turismo también es una industria importante, aunque no tanto como en el sur de la isla.
El pequeño puerto se encuentra a unos 4 kilómetros desde el casco el pueblo. El Centro de Visitantes cuenta con un Punto de Información Turística. El libro de registro está colocado dentro del Centro de Visitante el cual se puede visitar y firmar de lunes a viernes de 08:30h a 14:30h. Hay aparcamientos y donde encontrará el tesoro.
Desde noviembre de 2017, el caché cuenta con la aprobación oficial del Centro de Visitantes (Punto de Información Turística). También, hay un "buzón de correos" fuera del edificio para su uso, cuando el Centro de Visitantes está cerrado y / o no desea entrar, pero los empleados estarán felices de darle la bienvenida. La clave está oculta - ver sugerencia.
Suplemento: Como la clave del buzón de correo ha sido robada, puede usarla solo si suelta una hoja de registro, que debe traer usted mismo, lo siento.
La oficina y el buzón de correo también se pueden utilizar como un hotel de seguimiento de errores de viaje. Ambos deberían ser guardados.
Después de registrar sus datos, tome un pequeño paseo hasta el muelle y recorra la caminata para sentir el viento y disfrutar de una vista maravillosa de los acantilados y el mar.
