Land was donated for this park by John McKelvey, the park's namesake, and his Laurel Park Subdivision in 1951. It is the site of the Arroyo Holiday lighting since 1986 as well as Blues on the Hill, and is now used for a numer of different events. It sits on 11 acres of land next to the Arroyo Colorado River and accesses the Arroyo Hike and Bike Trail. Two covered picnic shelters sit atop the hill along with a playground, complete with handicap accessible swings.
Parking is a distance from the GZ so you will need to park and walk. Once there, attention to detail will be important as well as a good set of eyes. Sunscreen and good walking shoes are recommended. Looking for bison tube.
