Geocache Description:

300-ACRE POND

"300-Acre Pond" is located along the edge of the restricted use pond at the top of Lake Monticello. It is about a 0.5 to 1.25 mile +/- hike each way depending on where you park. The hike can be fairly easy or fairly tough depending on how you approach the cache. It is also accessible from the water if you have a craft that has no motor.

Fishing is allowed on Wednesdays and Saturdays (SC License required) for Bream, Bass, and Catfish.  There is a public swimming area that is open seasonally (no lifeguard).

The cache itself is a camouflaged plastic container hidden in a pine tree's stump hole level with the ground about 12 feet from the water.  It is filled with many items for trading; a logbook with a Geocaching is Fun pen (please do not take), a camera (take a picture if you wish and note it in the logbook), and the travel bug "Southeastern Quaker" we picked up in Virginia last weekend.  We thought he would like it here so close to his fellow ducks etc...When you are finished please re-hide the cache well and erase any signs of human passage...Thanks!

Good luck and enjoy!

The Commissar
