We thought it might be a fun idea to host a small event in the Victoria area for the many great geocachers who have to work and won't be able to get to the event in the Cobble Hill neighbourhood. As a bonus, we'll have the barbecue out and we'll be cooking up hotdogs!
At the end of the lower parking area is the Colwood Rotary Picnic Shelter. It is located just beyond the new children's playground equipment and beside the walking trail. There are six large picnic tables and a roof in case it's raining.
Our plan is to cook up a bunch of hot dogs for anyone who might be hungry. We'll also have hot dog condemints, bottled water and possibly a limited supply of a warm beverage. There will be a logbook to sign and TBs to share. GunnerMac is hoping to hook up with ZERO people as well if you feel you have some advice or knowledge to pool.
We'll be gathering at 1800 hrs (6 pm) and packing up after 1845 hrs (6:45 pm) most likely because our toes may be cold by then. The shelter is lit but the sun sets at 1756 hrs so bring a flashlight if you're going to try to find the nearby cache.
There is NO expectation for payment for the hot dogs or water. It's free! If you want to though, we're always fundraising for one of our junior members who is with Pathfinders and heading to South America this summer with eleven other young women. We collect returnables for the cause and we would love to collect any that you feel you can part with. The caching van can has lots of room!
Unfortunately, only hot dogs are allowed in the park and not canines. (Not our rules.)
