There are already a number of geocaches on, or virtually on, this excellent route including the Flying Boots' caches at each of the three castles, several of SidandBob's 3CW caches and some of my own caches from my 'Graig' series and my 'Monmouthshire Rural Churches' series. I therefore thought it was a good idea to fill the gaps, as it were, by placing caches every half to one mile around the route (either side of the established caches) so that it would make a great days walkingand caching.
The Walk
The Three Castles Walk is a decent days walk and is traditionally done in an anti-clockwise direction, starting and ending at Grosmont, but you can of course start wherever you fancy but please bear in mind that the en-route multi's assume you are going in an anti-clockwise direction!!!
The walk is on a mixture of footpaths, bridleways and small roads and by the time you have done the whole thing you will have walked about 19 miles and climbed about 1100 metres too. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries about the route.
The Caches
All these 'new' caches (which I've bookmarked for you to the right, together with the established caches already in place) are all titled '3 Castles Walk - ___________' for easy identification. They are not supposed to be particularly hard to find (otherwise you'll be all day and all night!) and each are rated by D/T individually. They are all traditional caches and I have also not numbered them because of the flexibility of the route and the other caches that are already on it.
Placed at the curiously-named The Boot crossroads. This is a smallish regular cache. Please cover well again.
This could be done as a cache and dash but please be aware that you would be parking at a crossroads with limited vision.
