Geocache Description:

A cache dedicated to Manannán Mac Lir - the Irish Neptune. Local tradition tells of the presence of a sea god in Lough Foyle, said to inhabit the offshore sandbanks between Inishtrahull and Magilligan. It was believed in Celtic times that his spirit was released during storms. There is thought that the Broighter Hoard - a famous collection of gold artefacts including a golden boat found on land reclaimed from Lough Foyle - may have been a votive offering to appease Manannán.

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE PUBLISHED CO ORDINATES
