Where: An island in Amsterdam's beautiful Vondelpark, within metres of Europe's 10th oldest live cache!
When: Monday the 14th of March 2016, from 5.15pm 'til 6.12pm.
What: A gathering of cachers to talk caching, swap travel items and caching stories, and enjoy area. The location offers step-free wheelchair access and welcomes well behaved dogs, and children.
Why: The Geolympix Countdown cache events are international roadshow meets to promote the Geolympix and talk about the plans we have for the best (tbc) Geocaching event of 2016! There's Britain and Ireland's first National Geocaching Awards, a caching film festival, Europe's 9th oldest cache (England's 2nd oldest, UK's 3rd oldest) plus the UK's oldest Puzzle cache, our AlphaBet You Can't challenge and much, much more!
Ancient caches: A theme of the Geolympix is old caches (Europe's 8th oldest/England's oldest, GC171, is close by, as are several others from 2001), which made this spot in Amsterdam, by the Netherland's oldest remaining cache, an easy choice. The area around Amsterdam has an amazing 26 caches hidden in 2001 within 80Km, but nothing older than GC198, 80m from this meet.
PLUS! The Geolympix is on the way to The North Wales Mega and THE GPS MAZE, being held the weekend after!
