Geocache Description:

I've walked, ran and biked at this beach trail for a lot of years, was curious if there was a cache here....nope...time to put one here. Stop in and visit Dieppe Veteran's Memorial Park.

This is the Dieppe Veteran's Memorial Park. It was commemorated on the 19th of August 2010. 197 members of the RHLI (Royal Hamilton Light Infantry) lost their lives in the raid against the defended French Port of Dieppe. Many more were wounded and taken prisoner of war, and many who returned to England were wounded. Our Padre, Rev. John Weir Foote, was awarded the Victoria Cross and for his actions that day in tending to the dying and wounded on the beach before he too became a POW. Of the 6,000- strong task force which sailed from England to France that day, 907 in total were killed and many more injured and captured. nd view the Dieppe Veteran's Memorial Park.
